Say Goodbye to Chlorine?
Broken Arrow company says, 'yes you can'

A backyard swimming pool that doesn't need chlorine sanitation?
[Why Buy?]
That's the promise of an award-winning Broken Arrow company that has specialized
in air and water purification since 1990.
Being introduced by Intecnology LLC, 717 E. Houston, is the "Mineral Pure" pool
and spa water purification device. Based on technology created by NASA and now used
on the space station, it creates pool water so pure it surpasses EPA standards for
drinking water, according to David Estes, business manager.
The system consists of two electrodes - one copper and the other silver - placed
in the return line of existing pool equipment. A microprocessor designed control
box provides a controllable low-voltage DC charge to the electrodes, releasing safe
and natural mineral ions into the water. The copper ions kill algae while the silver
ions kill bacteria and viruses, Estes said, and systems are available to handle
just about anything from small spas all the way up to 2.4 million gallons.
The unit sized for the majority of Oklahoma's backyard pools sells for about $1,500.
The company will install it for another $200, or homeowners can do it themselves,
Estes said. The system carries a five-year warranty. Depending on pool use, electrodes
typically last three to four years and replacements cost about $150 a pair.
To open pools each spring, and to give systems a boost following heavy rains or
pool use, Estes recommends using a chlorine-free shock that is available through
his store.
Other than that, he said, balancing pH and alkalinity is the thing requiring outside
chemical assistance.
Also available are lines of air and water purification systems for homes and recreational
vehicles. For campers and outdoors types, Estes has canteens with built-in filtration
systems and a water filter straw that is so effective "you can literally stick it
in a lake and take a big drink."
A point of special pride with Intecnology employees, he said, is the U.S. Local
Business Association "Best of Tulsa Award" they just received.
